Give your copy a big fat KISS
Good copywriting is all about keeping things simple.
Your copy must be easy to read and understand.
That means short sentences and easy to follow English.
Yes, you may have to ditch some of those witty turns of phrase. And ditch the marketing lingo.
But your readers will thank you for it and more importantly your customers are more likely to buy.
How NOT to write a press release
A press release is a great marketing tool for any business to use.
A well-written press release can bring great results. Publicity for the business, links back to the website, and a higher profile for yourself.
As a freelance copywriter I have written many press releases. Many businesses send them out regularly.
But as with anything there is a right way and a wrong way of doing thinks.
In this blog post I reveal how to avoid your press release passing unnoticed.
10 words that really do my head in a lot
It’s wrong to call this list my top ten. Rather these are the ten words which have no place in anything written by a freelance copywriter. Or anyone else for that matter.
The list includes word you don’t need, words you shouldn’t use and the world’s most overused punctuation.
Avoid all of these to make your copy readable and punchy.
Lost words from old English
Take a break from writing that landing page or blog post. And have a chuckle at some of these lost word from old English.
Academics are trying to get us to use old favourites like coney-catch and dowsabel.
Good luck with trying to work any of these thirty words into your copy.
